The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Woodland Wellness Centre is inviting applications for the following positions based out of the Prevention & Recovery Department in La Ronge, SK :
Mental Health Therapist I
3 Full-Time
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties :
- Interview clients individually, in families or in groups to obtain case history background information and prepare intake reports.
- Assess strengths, deficits and difficulties and determine the types of service required.
- Provide therapy to assist clients in developing skills to deal with and resolve their social and personal difficulties.
- Being a member of a multi-disciplinary team, to develop a self-help approach to the overall improvement of health and social well-being of band members.
- Participating in community development projects that enhance the capacity of the community with respect to mental health issues.
- Providing follow-up care to individuals and families returning from treatment at outside agencies.
- Development of school-based programs.
- Development of a crisis intervention plan for communities.
- Provide crisis intervention services and emergency shelter referral services.
- Implement and organize the delivery of specific services within the community.
- Implement life skills and workshops / presentations on mental health related topics.
- Maintaining professional confidentiality within the limits of legal and child welfare reporting requirements.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Bachelor of Education with a Major in Psychology or related field;
- 1-2 years’ experience working in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field is preferred.
- Ability to counsel children, youth, and adults.
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Required Professional Registration with a Regulatory Body (i.e., Saskatchewan Social Work Association, Canadian Social Work Association, etc.)
- Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset.
- Ability to speak / understand Cree is an asset.
- Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and own a reliable vehicle.
- Must provide a satisfactory and recent; Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, SGI Driver’s Abstract & COVID-19 Vaccination Passport.
