The Opportunity :
We’re looking for a self-motivated Junior Buyer to join our purchasing team in Burlington.
Key Duties & Responsibilities :
- Prepare and issue purchase orders
- Maintain and update all purchasing item data
- Support two other Senior Buyers with order confirmations, expediting, and other duties as required
- Communicate material / vendor issues that will impact production / delivery schedules
- Actively work towards supply base consolidation
- Actively work with Forecasting Department to reduce lead times, inventory levels, order accuracy, etc.
- Actively work with all departments to manage excess inventories and end-of-program analysis
- Assist with Creative, Quality, and Production during product development & change process
- Assist with New Products development team to achieve timely launch of new programs
- Support the Quality Department with vendor-related issues, as necessary
- Cost reductions of materials through the initiation and participation in the benchmarking process. This will include, but not be limited to, the potential re-sourcing of appropriate vendors, along with the negotiation of pricing, terms and conditions
- Monitor & ensure adherence to project timelines
- Assist Director of Purchasing as required
- Perform all other assigned duties as required
Qualifications & Experience :
- College diploma or university degree desired
- 2-4 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong vendor relationship skills
- Well-developed communication & analytical skills
- High level of planning, organizational & implementation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities & conflicting deadlines in a fast- paced environment
- PMAC / APICS Certification or enrolment
- Thorough understanding of and approach to continuous improvement
- Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, and Outlook, MRP based systems)
- Candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision and work effectively in a team environment
