Controller

We are looking for a skilled Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of our organization in New Hamburg, Ontario. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and expertise in manufacturing / cost accounting, payroll, and financial reporting. You will play a critical role in maintaining compliance, optimizing processes, and supporting strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities :

• Supervise daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, journal entries, and general ledger analysis.
• Monitor and update monthly USD exchange rates while hedging foreign exchange risk.
• Prepare, submit, and maintain statutory returns, such as T4s and other required filings, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Generate and analyze monthly financial statements and reports to provide management with insights into financial performance.
• Coordinate with external accounting firm and consultants to provide necessary information for year-end reviews and tax return preparation.
• Supply annual financial data to consultants for research and development (SRED) claims.
• Respond to requests from Statistics Canada authorities promptly and accurately.
• Develop, implement, and maintain management information systems and internal controls to ensure data integrity and compliance with company policies.
• Oversee human resources functions, including benefits and pension administration.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned to support organizational goals.
• 5+ years of experience in financial management and advisory roles.
• Solid analytical skills, attention-to-detail and problem solving skills, with the ability to provide actionable insights through financial reporting.
• Experience with manufacturing cost accounting / WIP.
• Demonstrated expertise in payroll operations and Canadian payroll regulations.
• Experience with annual budgeting and forecasting processes including tracking actual vs. budget variances.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and external consultants.
• Adept at managing various human resources functions from a financial perspective, including benefits and pension administration.
• CPA designation preferred.
