Opportunity
We are seeking a temporary Employment Counsellor to join our WorkBC Centre team. Reporting to the Employment Services Manager, the Employment Counsellor is responsible for providing comprehensive employment counselling services to agency clients, related to job search, career planning, employment maintenance, and skills enhancement. As part of this role, counsellors assess client needs, develop client action plans, administer financial supports, make referrals, follow up with clients, and document client activity in the Integrated Case Management System (ICM), following agency guidelines and funder policy. - Shifts : Monday to Thursday, including rotating Wednesday evenings
- Hourly Wage : $27.15

Responsibilities
Client Assessment
Complete client intake, assessments, and service-needs determinationRegister and / or refer clients for further service, according to established criteriaEmployment Counselling
Provides counselling and coaching for job search, career planning, training access, and employment maintenance.Supports job search activities by helping clients prepare resumes, cover letters, and interview skills.Conducts regular follow-up with registered clients.Participates in team case coordination and training.Delivers outreach services off-site when needed.Client Progress Documentation
Maintains accurate client records in the ICM system.Completes follow-up surveys and updates case records.Shares updates with colleagues about community resources and developments.Follows office procedures such as appointment scheduling, documentation, and quality assurance processes.Workshop Referral and Delivery
Deliver employment-related information to clients; such as : job search techniques, labour market information; resume and cover-letter development, and interview preparation; in one-on-one or group formatPlan, update, facilitate, and / or co-facilitate in-house workshops or information sessions, as assignedMake appropriate referrals to workshops and other servicesTeamwork
Share, report, update co-workers on activities impacting the project and / or client servicesMaintain strict confidentiality related to clients, colleagues, and agencyAdministration

Education and Training
Post‑secondary certificate in counselling, career development, or a related field.1 year(s) experience in case management, needs assessments, and client coaching.Knowledge of job search strategies, employment counselling, and career planning.Experience supporting persons with disabilities in employment settings.Familiarity with the qathet labour market and local employers.Strong documentation and computer skills; ICM knowledge preferred.Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance required.Valid BC driver’s license.We appreciate all applications, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
