Manager, Forensic Inpatient Service

Position Description

Reporting to the Clinical Director Forensic Service, the Complex Care and Recovery (CCR) Program is recruiting a full-time, permanent, Inpatient Manager.

In this capacity, you will lead and coordinate an interprofessional team that provides active assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to clients of the CCR Program.

This will include scheduling staff; managing human resources, including recruitment and performance management; as well as team planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.

In collaboration with Professional Practice Leaders, you will be responsible for the identification and development of educational requirements for staff, providing supervision to members of the clinical team, and for the implementation of evidence based practices.

You will be required to support budget planning and monitoring, facilitate the implementation of the CAMH Strategic Plan, participate in planning and project work, as well as contribute to planning and implementation related to upcoming phases of the CAMH redevelopment plan.

You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and you will ensure the inpatient services are in alignment with program and organizational objectives, vision, mission and values.

You may also be called upon to participate in and represent Management in negotiations with Bargaining Agents. You will support a psychologically healthy and safe environment.

Qualifications A Master’s Degree in Nursing, Social Work, or a related field is preferred, and 5 years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized environment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized knowledge of Schizophrenia, as well as specialized knowledge of the forensic system, assessment, rehabilitation and risk management would be an asset.

You will also possess strong negotiation skills, combined with an awareness of professional roles and functions of diverse disciplines within integrated clinical teams, and can effectively liaise with external programs and agencies.

You possess a track record of : managing an interdisciplinary team; client-centered care; treatment of those with complex mental illness;

and development of linkages / partnerships. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and communities is essential.

You have good computer skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). In addition, you possess excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work effectively within a dynamic team environment.

Bilingualism (English / French) or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
