THE TEAM

The mission of the Platform Engineering team is to provide the process, tools, and coaching to drive Development and Engineering efficiency.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Aritzia is growing and our Platform Engineering team is growing with it. As the Senior Manager / Manager, Digital Commerce Platforms, Platform Engineering, you will lead and motivate the team responsible for engineering and deploying the platforms, services and SDKs required to support Aritzia's digital growth ambitions. You will be accountable to scale, secure and deliver on the digital commerce team's product roadmap. You will leverage engineering best practices and create processes to ensure that backend and service capabilities are built in the right way and delivered at the right time. You will be accountable for ensuring that the components delivered adhere to our enterprise standards and are scalable, available, reliable and resilient. You will partner with our Enterprise Platform Engineering Team to co-create standards and adopt and implement new practices specific to the Digital Commerce Stack. THE ROLE

As the Senior Manager / Manager, Digital Commerce Platforms, Platform Engineering, you will :

  • Drive the vision and engineering for our Digital Commerce Platform and its related services and SDKs.
  • Manage and coach a team of engineers and automation engineers to ensure solutions are delivered within an acceptable timeframe and are of high quality.
  • Architect and build components that provide the necessary backend functionality required to drive our digital commerce experience.
  • Evolve our architecture to allow for the release of new features with shorter times to market.
  • Build an engineering culture of high performance - one that is centered around measurable goals, ownership, curiosity and high trust.
  • Be accountable for the full stack of our Digital Commerce Platform including Commerce, Search and Mobile Platforms, related Services and APIs and TypeScript SDKs that are integrated on the frontend.
  • Partner with Digital delivery teams to own the backlog and roadmap of platform components required to support their work.
  • Partner with our Enterprise Platform Engineering team to adhere to our enterprise standards.
  • Implement structured testing that ensures functionality, identifying and addressing deficiencies.
  • Work with our other platform teams to define a low-touch deployment approach for APIs.
  • Focus on automation and DevOps practices to help streamline quality rollouts.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The Senior Manager / Manager, Digital Commerce Platforms, Platform Engineering has :

  • Proven and best-in-class skills, applicable certifications, education, and / or experience
  • Proficient in JavaScript, Typescript, Java.

  • Basic understanding of React & ReactNative and how applications designed using these frameworks ingest APIs.
  • Experience with designing and developing scalable, secure, reliable distributed services that power ecommerce & mobile app.
  • Solid understanding of distributed caching and comfortable in using products like Redis for performance optimization of services.
  • Understands the role of CDN and WAF to improve API availability and security.
  • Willingness to learn the products within our enterprise platforms to build integrations (e.g., Apigee X, Google Cloud Functions and SAP CPI Cloud Foundry).
  • Willingness to learn the products within our digital commerce platform (e.g., Salesforce Service Cloud, SAP Emarsys, SAP Customer Data Capture and Algolia).
  • Experience with creating automated API test using tools like ReadyAPI or Postman.
  • Leadership skills to coach and mentor junior members of the team to enable progressive career development and an incredible employee experience.
  • Experience implementing / externalizing high volume, performant APIs.
  • Experience with MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-Native & Headless) principals and architecture
  • 7+ years of experience designing, engineering and implementing large-scale, highly available systems with loosely coupled design patterns, with specific experience eCommerce and digital experience.
  • Has built and scaled delivery teams from 0 to N consisting of a mix of dev, QA technical product management and business systems analysts.
  • Highly data driven - knows how to infer metrics about the health & performance of a team and optimize around them.
  • Background in agile development methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with experience in helping Digital Product Managers shape their backlogs.

  • THE COMPENSATION

    The typical hiring range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000 CAD per year. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Additionally, this position may be eligible for bonus.
