Description :

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Human Resource team at Marsh McLennan . This role can be based at any location in Canada near a Marsh McLennan office. It is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Human Resources Manager , you will coach, support and advise People Managers, aiming to develop and enhance the quality of people management throughout the colleague lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to counsel on people matters in a company where the people function is a strategic partner and collaborate with a community of HR professionals across several businesses with the potential to be involved in project work.

This is a great opportunity for a Human Resource Generalist or Employee Relations professional and it’s unique in the level of exposure to Business leaders, HR Centers of Excellence (CoE) and the people function team.

We will count on you to :

  • Deploy enterprise-wide HR programs and initiatives
  • Provide guidance and support to Managers across the full range of activities in the HR portfolio, including and not limited to performance management, skills and competence development, learning, succession planning, absent / leave management, change management, organizational effectiveness, compensation, benefits and total rewards including year-end process
  • Support employee relations matters including investigations, performance improvement processes, disciplinary actions, grievances, appeals, etc. – where matters are more complex, the HR Manager will engage with the Employee Relations CoE for advice and support
  • Support and from time to time take responsibility for coordinating, the rollout and delivery of HR programs, and contribute to process improvements
  • Cultivate strong relationships with functional teams (Finance, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition) and support the alignment between the people and business strategies
  • Ensure that regulatory and statutory obligations are discharged locally including reporting requirements
  • Consult with People Partners and the CoE to determine best practices, continuously improve delivery methods, and especially consider country-specific nuances to guide local implementation

What you need to have :

  • Bilingualism : Advanced English and French language fluency
  • 4+ years’ relevant Canadian work experience in HR alongside a requirement for suitable qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of local laws, regulation, company policies and HR processes
  • Experienced in supporting managers with employee relations case management including investigations
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach managers at most levels in the business through all aspects of the employee life cycle including in more complex situations
  • Experience of successfully supporting project / initiative implementation across a population of managers recognizing the broader business objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with colleagues in business and in wider HR community
  • Solid technical skills – Strong proficiency with the MS Office Suite and enthusiasm for learning new skills as needed
