What you’ll do
The AVP of Purchasing is responsible for the selection and assortment of product within their respective area of responsibility. This role will build, communicate and execute a merchant strategy that meets or exceeds financial goals, in support of the VP's overall strategy and business imperatives. The AVP manages support partner relationships to create a culture of collaboration, productivity, and accountability.
You will have the responsibility for leading a larger segment of the business, having multiple merchant direct reports, and responsibility for the performance of multiple product groups. The AVP will be responsible for leading, inspiring, and developing a team of direct reports including hiring, performance management, coaching, and feedback.
- Develop and drive a purchasing strategy that meets or exceeds financial goals, including sales, gross margin dollar, and inventory turn, for Men's Apparel.
- Create and inspire short-term strategies and tactics that support long-term strategies.
- Defines key capabilities in delivering strategy and managing execution.
- Analyze performance to inform future strategies; recognize and react to business / trends.
- Maintain strong, effective relationships with Core Team members.
- Lead efforts that instill best practices and provide support to assigned segment of business.
- Lead both direct and indirect reports and responsible for providing feedback and accountability to support functions and with vendors.
- Maintain strong, effective relationships with supporting teams to drive innovation and product development.
What you bring
5+ years of experience in Purchasing.Previous leadership roles in purchasing or related areas.Strong leadership skills, including experience managing and leading teams.A deep understanding of the industry and market trends.Demonstrated experience in retail buying.Experience in P&L responsibility.Omni Channel Experience.Cross-functional experience.Hybrid
