Description

Responsibilities

Perform day-to-day operations, maintenance, and support, including :

• Database logs review and troubleshooting
• Database backup / recovery jobs / tasks review
• Performance monitoring and tuning
• Storage and capacity planning and management
• Database objects management
• Database change management
• Security / auditing
• Identify security gaps and vulnerabilities, identify and implement mitigations (e.g., patches)
• Installing, configuring, patching work related to projects
• User and profile management
• Create a Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) document to assist operational staff (non-DBAs) in their duties regarding Oracle database environments.
• Perform regular assessment of the existing Oracle databases / environments, and make recommendations regarding :
• Maintenance and leading practices.
• Changes required to address production issues (e.g., instability, poor performance) and risks.
• Improvements to operational procedures (e.g., backup / restore) to align to standard methodology and industry best practices, taking into account the amount and criticality of the systems.
• Recommendations for disaster recovery and non-production environments.
• Database upgrade options and approaches, informed by overall solution refresh plans and industry best practices.
• Implement approved recommendations as described above.
• Provide guidance and outline best practices for incorporating future database requirements into the environment.
• Contribute to a team culture of collaboration, excellence and innovation.
• Develop or inform the development of role descriptions for the development and sustainment of OPS / BPS Secure and PKI OIM.
• Develop plans for the knowledge and skills transfer to OPS employees, including activities or tests to demonstrate the successful transfer of knowledge and attainment of required skills.
• Transfer knowledge to OPS employees.
