We manage over 675 rental units in Downtown Montreal and a 134-unit multi-family property in Washington, DC. Our projects consistently receive international recognition, breaking records and redefining industry norms. This role reports to the Founder and is located on-site in Montreal.
Role Overview
We need a mobilizing leader, not just another supervisor. As our Operations Manager, you'll be the person who transforms our operational teams into a well-oiled machine while our founder focuses on growing the business. You're not here to micromanage—you're here to inspire, structure, and develop a team of 20+ people across 600+ units who will have cool stories to tell their grandkids about the company they helped build. This role is about creating structure where chaos exists, developing internal talent into future leaders, and ensuring every resident feels the Fox hospitality difference. You'll be the bridge between our ambitious vision and flawless execution, turning individual contributors into a cohesive team that delivers exceptional results. Responsibilities
- Lead & Develop Your Team: Mobilize and inspire 20+ team members across maintenance, leasing, property management, and admin; identify and develop internal talent, coaching high-potential employees toward leadership roles; create a culture of excellence; structure and optimize daily operations across 600+ units in multiple markets; foster clear communication between field teams and leadership.
- Build Operational Excellence: Implement tools, procedures, and tracking systems that improve efficiency and resident satisfaction; coordinate and optimize daily operations for apartment turnovers, maintenance, and leasing; manage vendor relationships and coordinate with contractors for maintenance, repairs, and renovations; ensure quality control across all properties while maintaining hospitality standards; drive continuous improvement through process optimization and team feedback.
- Strategic Partnership: Serve as the operational backbone that allows the founder to focus on business development; support growth initiatives by ensuring operational readiness for new properties and markets; represent Fox in key vendor negotiations and stakeholder relationships; provide operational insights that inform strategic decisions and growth opportunities.
- Results & Performance: Drive key metrics: occupancy rates, turnover times, maintenance response, tenant satisfaction; manage operational budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities; ensure compliance with all regulations while maintaining Fox's premium service standards; scale operations to support our rapid growth trajectory.
Qualifications
- Leadership Experience
- 5+ years managing operational teams (5-20 people) in real estate, construction, hospitality, or similar fast-paced industries
- Proven ability to restructure and develop teams, implementing simple but effective processes
- Mobilizing leadership style: you inspire confidence, coach effectively, and help people grow
- Track record of turning around underperforming teams and building high-performing cultures
- Technical & Professional Skills
- Tech-savvy mindset — comfortable with our tech stack: HubSpot, ClickUp, WhatsApp, Google Workspace, OpenPhone and 15+ other tools (because quick and tech-savvy is a MUST)
- Excellent communication skills and strong organizational abilities
- Hands-on, pragmatic personality oriented toward results
- Bilingual fluency (French/English) essential for our Montreal operations
