We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Civil / Structural Engineer with 10+ years of experience in brownfield and / or greenfield utility, oil & gas, oil sands, refinery or industrial projects to join our team!

We have a highly collaborative work environment that is supported through an in-office approach. Working side-by-side with other Capital team members and our clients brings out the best in us and produces exceptional results. This position will be in-person, with no hybrid option. There is the ability to choose either a standard 5-day work week, or a condensed 4-day work week.

What are we looking for?

  • 10+ years experience in design for brownfield and / or greenfield utility, oil & gas, oil sands, refinery, or industrial projects.
  • Any construction support and / or field engineering for brownfield and / or greenfield utility, oil & gas, oil sands, refinery, or industrial projects would be considered an asset.
  • Registered with APEGA as a Professional Engineer.
  • Over 10 years of experience in engineering design for brownfield and greenfield projects across utility, oil & gas, oil sands, refinery, and industrial sectors
  • Maintain active registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
  • Act as project lead and primary point of contact for clients
  • Support the Department Head with estimates and job planning activities
  • Develop scopes of work, technical studies, and engineering specifications as needed
  • Prepare scoping studies, Design Basis Memoranda (DBMs), Construction Work Packages, and technical reports
  • Develop work packages, respond to RFIs, and resolve technical deviations from engineering specifications
  • Perform and verify engineering calculations, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Support clients and internal disciplines with Civil / Structural Engineering services
  • Collaborate with designers and cross-discipline teams to execute integrated project deliverables
  • Conduct structural integrity inspections and condition assessments of existing structures
  • Participate in constructability reviews and support construction sequencing and scheduling
  • Provide engineering support for concept designs, rigging and placement studies, and temporary structure designs
  • Deliver on-site technical support during construction phases
  • Mentor junior staff and review their technical work
  • Must have knowledge of Alberta and National Building Codes, CSA Concrete and Steel Design Codes, National Fire Code, OH&S and Industry Standards.
  • Proficient in structural engineering and drafting software, including :
  • STAAD.Pro, and S-FRAME for structural analysis and design
  • Revit and Tekla Structures for 3D modeling and Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Mathcad and Excel for engineering calculations and documentation
  • Bluebeam Revu for PDF markup and drawing review workflows
  • Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection

What do we value :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation by APEGA (required)
  • 8-10 years of related experience;
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English;
  • A self-starter with strong technical, interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in oil and gas, mining, and utilities facilities projects.
  • Must be capable of conducting field visits at client’s facilities as required.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the engineering field.
