As a Senior Financial Accountant at Canfor, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting our partners across the business. Your expertise in financial analysis will contribute to the preparation of operational, financial, and managerial accounting reports, supporting both strategic and day-to-day decision-making. You will also be integral to our annual business planning and forecasting, helping drive continuous improvements while supporting ongoing operational needs.

This is a role for an experienced financial leader who will manage their own responsibilities and provide backup for essential financial tasks with our world-class corporate finance team.

What you'll be doing :

  • Leading the preparation of annual business plans, monthly / quarterly / yearly forecasts, and capital processes, collaborating with corporate functions such as Finance, HR, Supply Chain, and Operations.
  • Posting month-end journal entries and reviewing ledgers to ensure timely and accurate month-end and quarter-end close.
  • Performing general ledger account reconciliations and preparing financial statements and reports to support corporate functions and internal stakeholders.
  • Assisting internal and external auditors with reviews of the company's financial records.
  • Coaching non-financial staff on invoice handling, including Coupa AP system support and invoice submissions.
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate policies and IFRS.
  • Providing coverage for your peers during peak periods or as needed.

What We're Looking For :

  • CPA designation (or in pursuit of designation) is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen business sense.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, self-motivated, and a proactive problem-solver.
  • A minimum of three years of progressive experience in an accounting or financial analyst role, ideally within the forest products industry or a related operations / manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Experience with ERP systems or other accounting software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

    The salary range for this position is : $88,500.00-$110,500.00
