We specialize in environmental restoration and the construction of sustainable outdoor recreation, utilizing light civil services and precision excavation to protect and enhance natural landscapes. Our work focuses on ecological integrity through riparian and stream restoration, combined with the expert construction of trails, bridges, boardwalks and park infrastructure that connects people to the environment.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to lead project execution in the field, embody Cabins values, and ensure our projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest environmental and construction standards.

Core Responsibilities & Competencies

Youll help guide what work we pursue, how we plan it, and how we communicate risk in a way that supports the team, protects the company, and creates value for our clients and communities.
As Senior Estimator, you will assess risk during project reviews, prepare accurate estimates and proposal responses, produce realistic schedules and work plans to ensure we bid projects that are the best fit for our core competencies.
1. Strategic Pipeline Filtering
- Use our Strategic Directives to evaluate incoming RFPs.
- Prioritize projects that align with our core competencies in stream restoration and outdoor recreation infrastructure.
2. Estimating
Prepare comprehensive lump sum cost estimates by interpreting complex drawings, environmental specs, and project scopes.3. Assessing Risk
Conduct deep-dive site and document reviews to identify "hidden" risks (subsurface conditions, hydrological windows, and site access) and price them accurately.Proactively identify project risks (environmental, logistical, or financial) and seek cost-saving or process-improvement opportunities.4. Quantifying the "Sweet Spot"
Develop comprehensive budgets that reflect the specialized nature of our work, ensuring we aren't underpricing the high-value expertise we bring to sensitive environments.5. Work Planning
Develop detailed work plans and schedules, ensuring that estimating data translates seamlessly into a realistic project timeline.6. Supply Chain Management
Source and negotiate pricing with specialized suppliers and subcontractors; prepare purchase orders and subcontracts.7. Collaboration
Act as a technical bridge between clients, consultants, and our field teams to ensure smooth project handoffs and delivery.8. Environmental Stewardship
Ensure all estimates account for Best Management Practices (BMPs) and strict safety and quality standards.9.Mentorship
Mentor others in the organization in the art of estimating.Required Skills & Experience
Experience : Minimum 5 years of related experience in estimating, project coordination, or project management within the light civil, environmental or recreation sectors.Technical Knowledge : Strong understanding of environmental restoration (creek diversions, erosion control, planting) and outdoor recreation infrastructure (trails, pedestrian bridges and boardwalks).Software Proficiency : Expert-level skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).Tech Stack : Advanced Excel, Bluebeam, and Project Management software (Procore / Timberline / etc).Education : Formal technical training (CET, P.Eng, or similar) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred.Why Join Cabin Operations?
