Department Overview : The Model Validation (MV) group is a centralized Model Risk Management function within the Bank. The Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI / ML) Model Validation (MV) group is responsible for the review / vetting and approval of AI / ML models developed and used across the enterprise, including Generative AI and other contemporary Deep Learning models.
Location : Montréal, Québec, Canada
Hours : 37.5 per week

Responsibilities
- Lead R&D in the GenAI / Agentic / LLM evaluation and testing areas.
- Lead a team of Machine Learning Scientists to validate complex AI / ML models, particularly Generative AI, LLMs / NLP and Deep Learning models.
- Validate AI / ML models (review, test / evaluate, and provide effective challenge to model developers) with emphasis on Generative AI and Deep Learning models.
- Recommend model approvals or corrective actions based on independent validation.
- Lead and support a team of model validators; ensure performance objectives are set and feedback is provided regularly.
- Communicate group objectives and align activities with business objectives.
- Support employee development, coach direct reports, and assist in achieving personal development objectives.
- Develop standards and procedures for vetting and validation of Generative AI, NLP, and Deep Learning models compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to requests from regulators, audit, and internal / external stakeholders; provide information and assistance as required.
- Collaborate with internal Model Development groups, Audit, and other partners to ensure models meet bank standards for use.
- Identify needs for new models / techniques as industry standards evolve and regulatory requirements change.
- Maintain professional knowledge of AI / ML techniques; provide subject matter expertise to business units on Generative AI, LLMs / NLP and Deep Learning modeling and validation.
- Stay up to date with advancements in Generative AI, major publications, LLMs, evaluation metrics, tech stacks, and datasets.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Job Requirements
Advanced quantitative and AI / ML skills with a post-secondary degree in computer science, machine learning / AI, engineering, statistics, mathematics, etc.4+ years of experience in developing or validating Generative AI, LLMs, NLP and other Deep Learning models; 2+ years in leading a small team of ML scientists.In-depth knowledge of AI / ML methodologies including Generative AI, Deep Learning, NLP, RAG, Transformers, Diffusion models, etc.Experience with DL and Generative AI stacks / libraries (e.g., PyTorch, PromptFlow, LangChain, HuggingFace).Motivation to stay current with advancements in Generative AI, ML, and cloud technologies.Proficient in Python (or similar scripting languages).Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and big data technologies (PySpark, Hadoop).Knowledge of data structures, algorithm design, and OOP principles.Knowledge of ML explainability / interpretability techniques.Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder management abilities.Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.Excellent time / project management and multitasking abilities with minimal supervision.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Qualifications Souhaitées
