Senior Mechanical Engineer - Buildings (Centre Block)

The Opportunity :
This is your chance to join WSP as a Mechanical Engineer on the iconic Centre Block Rehabilitation Project. You are a team player who thrives in a collaborative and interactive environment. As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing the design of mechanical building systems through to completion of the design packages.
What you can expect to do here :
- Provide leadership in the development of leading-edge engineering solutions for the various mechanical building systems, including HVAC ventilation and hydronics, process cooling, smoke management, plumbing and drainage, fire protection, and controls.
- Develop technical drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary work environment with architects and engineers, as well as electrical and mechanical trade contractors to arrive at integrated design solutions which are fully constructible before work commences on site.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and positive direction to less experienced team members for them to feel comfortable to take on more complex technical challenges.
- Conduct quality reviews throughout the design process to ensure best practice design principles are being followed, and that the design meets the requirements of all applicable codes and standards to satisfy the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.
What you’ll bring to WSP :
Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.Minimum 12 years mechanical engineering and design experience on major complex building projects – experience with large scale, heritage designated projects a distinct advantage.Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with a strong desire and ability to collaborate and problem solve in an integrated team environment.Must possess detailed working knowledge of National Building Code of Canada and the Ontario Building Code.Detailed understanding of LEED v4.0 and ASHRAE 90.1 standards.Must have an advanced understanding of quality standards relative to mechanical design and planning, engineering fundamentals and principles.A working level understanding of REVIT MEP 3D is considered a definite advantage.To qualify for this role, you must be eligible for Canadian Federal Government Enhanced Reliability clearance.
