Job description

The person in this key organizational role is a financial expert. Their responsibilities include overseeing accounting processes, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial performance, managing cash flow, and implementing internal controls. They ensure that all financial activities comply with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Team leadership

Oversee and manage the accounting and payroll teams, provide training and development, assign tasks, and monitor work quality.

  • Financial statement production
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Manage day-to-day activities as part of the full accounting cycle.
  • Analyze financial performance and prepare reports and variance analyses.
  • Budget preparation
  • Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
  • Internal control
  • Establish and maintain a robust internal control system to prevent and detect errors and fraud while ensuring the security of company assets.

  • Work with internal and external auditors.
  • Payroll management
  • Monitor payroll processes and legal obligations in Québec and Ontario.

  • Process improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting and financial processes and implement solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Business partner to management
  • Provide financial advice and analysis to management to aid in strategic decision-making.

  • Governance
  • Manage federal and provincial government reports and tax filings.

  • Apply for external funding, including internship grants, CDAE tax credits, and other relevant programs.
  • Keep track of changes in legal compliance and financial and tax regulations, adhere to industry best practices, and stay abreast of market trends.
  • Participate in commercial insurance renewals, including negotiations, and maintain a good relationship with the broker.
  • Renew group insurance and the group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), including negotiations, in collaboration with the Vice-President of Talent, Culture, and Employee Experience, and maintain a good relationship with the broker.
  • Manager : Vice-President, Chief Financial Officer

    Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial management
  • Experience in the IT field or a professional services firm
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Knowledge of business intelligence software
  • Technical skills

  • Proficiency in accounting standards, accounting software, and financial analysis tools
  • Proficiency in the Netsuite financial management system a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Workspace
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Interpersonal skills

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, work as part of a team, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to analyze and summarize
  • Demonstrated rigor and integrity
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Bilingualism (French and English)
