Job description

We are currently seeking an In-house Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. They will provide legal advice, draft and negotiate agreements, support litigation management and manage licensing and compliance across all of NORR's offices globally. A general understanding of consulting responsibilities, construction law and insurance would be considered an asset for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all prime contracts with our clients and subconsultant agreements are fair and are reviewed, edited, and signed by all parties in a timely manner
  • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates legal agreements to minimize NORR's contractual risk
  • Assists in managing professional compliance and licensing obligations for NORR
  • Participates in developing internal guidelines, toolkits, and presenting to internal stakeholders regarding various legal and business issues.
  • Supports the Director in managing the company's litigation
  • Reviews RFPs and proposals to ensure compliance with terms, conditions and company policies
  • Manage internal legal software

Required Skills

  • Must have completed related post-secondary education
  • Must have an LL.B or J.D.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills through drawing on a number of known options to solve problems, present alternatives, and to offer solutions. Demonstrated ability to present creative solutions
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiating skills are essential
  • Must have computer skills to produce reports, documents, and presentations. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to efficiently manage a large volume of contracts
  • A background in architecture or engineering is an asset
  • Require Experience

  • Must have 3-5 years' experience in private practice or in-house counsel
  • Admitted member in good standing with a provincial law society or state bar
