Job Description
This position provides technical support to Instrumentation peers, Engineers, and Drafters. Instrumentation Specialists are involved in sizing and selecting various instruments and preparing instrument lists and datasheets. This position has experience with control valve sizing, measurement instrumentation, and industry regulations and standards. Instrumentation Technologists are involved in bid reviews, design reviews, technical evaluations, and assisting field operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with Instrument engineering and design for industrial plants and processes.
- Assists peers, engineers and others with instrumentation questions.
- Performs bid / evaluate / award process including development of Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages, bid evaluations, and Bill of Material (BOM) entry into Enterprise Resource Planning software
- Independently analyze problems by communicating with leaders, other employees, and other disciplines.
- Reads and analyzes P&IDs and Line Lists for generation of instrument lists and data sheets.
- Read and apply specifications, installation detail drawings, and electrical drawings to the specification of instrumentation.
- Ensure designs and installations comply with client specifications and government standards and codes.
- Resolve instrument, control, and electrical technical issues.
- Assist instrument and control personnel during construction and commissioning.
- Read and understand process runs and apply to the specification of instruments.
- Prepares and maintains instrument lists and data sheets.
- Uses data sheets and associated information to specify, size and select instruments.
- Requests quotes from vendors.
- Reviews and approves vendor drawings and documents.
- Generates Bill of Material (BOM).
- Tracks time to jobs.
- Provide technical support to Instrumentation peers, Engineers, Drafters, and others.
- View instruments and installations in the yard or shop and advise on proper installation.
- Apply practical knowledge and develop broad based skills while contributing to the overall success of Propak’s operations through interaction with a cross functional team.
Prerequisites
Education
Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering TechnologyJourneyman Red Seal certification (Instrumentation) is an assetRegistered with or eligible for ASET certificationExperience
3-4 years previous experience in the field of instrumentationExperience in the oil and gas industryExperience with control systems, measurement instrumentation, and industry regulationsProficiency in Microsoft Operating Systems, AutoCAD Drawing Viewer, and Adobe Acrobat ReaderExperience with Rockwell or DeltaV an AssetOther
