Job description

On behalf of our public-sector client , Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for an IT Network & Security Tools Support Consultant for a 12-month contract . This hybrid role requires up to 2 days per week onsite at their Vancouver, BC office.

Summary of the Role :

The IT Network & Security Tools Support Consultant will assist the Operational Technology team with tasks such as patching generation assets, managing ticket workflows, provisioning user access, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This role also includes creating technical documentation to support security standards and ensuring operational efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Support operational technology tasks, including Windows OS, Linux, and firewall asset patching in production environments.
  • Prepare patch implementation plans and track tasks through to completion.
  • Manage ticket workflows and provide quality assurance for patching results performed by third-party providers.
  • Provision user access requests and document technical processes, updates, and decisions.
  • Collaborate with vendors, business teams, and internal staff to address risks and identify workflow improvements.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures to align with security processes and operations.
  • Facilitate meetings, document decisions, and create administrative documentation as required.

Core Requirements :

  • Minimum 2 years of IT security experience supporting network and system environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering , or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with network and systems technologies such as firewalls, IPSEC, SNMPv3, Syslog, and TCP / IP routing.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Visio, and Access).
  • Excellent organizational skills and a detail-oriented approach to managing tasks.
  • Desired Skills & Experience :

  • Experience contributing to network and security tool upgrades and enhancements.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills for a professional environment.
  • Familiarity with preparing technical and administrative documentation, including NERC compliance support.
  • Terms :

    This position is a 12-month contract , with a hybrid work arrangement requiring up to 2 days per week onsite at the client’s Vancouver, BC office. Candidates must provide their own laptop for the duration of the contract. The successful candidate will be required to complete a background check prior to receiving an offer.
