Aecon is seeking our next procurement specialist to contribute to our transformative Port of Montreal new container terminal project to support the growth of the container market in Quebec and Eastern Canada.
Reporting to the Manager of Procurement, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for all purchasing related activities and for ensuring the delivery of materials and services to the site occurs on time, at the right price the first time. This person will also ensure the timely receipt of goods in SAP, as well as tracking deliveries and return of rental equipment.
What You'll Do Here :
- Understand how purchasing can enhance the enterprise, supply chain and competitive strategy
- Develop detailed plans to optimize the delivery of equipment, materials, supplies and services for quality, cost and schedule
- Clearly understand the variables that drive cost and develop strategies to eliminate waste
- Prepare and issue RFQ documents to qualified vendors (request for quotes, information, proposals, etc.)
- Negotiate and / or aid with the negotiation of best price, delivery, terms of payment and purchase conditions, tax exemptions, price escalation, and other factors impacting the total cost of procured items or services
- Collaborate with Aecon’s Operations personnel
- Support operations team with pricing at tendering stage
- Logistics management including expediting for critical site deliveries
- Analyze internal third-party agreements
- Manage the lifecycle of purchase order activity
- Participate in the evaluation of suppliers across all pertinent vectors of supplier performance
- Understand and adhere to all of Aecon’s polices, particularly to the procurement and safety policies
- Maintain high data integrity when inputting records in the company’s database systems
- Provide reporting and analysis on procurement activities, variances and impacts
- Facilitate the implementation of business specific contracts for services and / or materials
What You Bring to the Table :
5+ years’ experience within a purchasing department in the construction industryKnowledge of purchasing principles, techniques, practices and ethicsKnowledge of fundamentals of contract law, negotiating business agreements, and laws of requesting tenders, proposals, and quotationsProven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environmentAbility to work effectively within a team environment and be service orientedAbility to build positive working relationships with professionals within industry and internal clientsStrong negotiation skillsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in both French and EnglishSolid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new productsAttention to detail, mathematical and analytical skillsProficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)What Makes us Aecon Proud :
