Interested in shaping how AI transforms the oil & gas industry? Love building with Claude, Codex, and agentic systems? Want real ownership — from idea to impact? Curious what “Business at the Speed of Thought” looks like in practice?
If that sounds like you, we’re hiring…
About this opportunity:
Join our software development team as we build the next generation of AI-powered products, combining strong business insight with cutting-edge AI and modern software engineering. We focus on delivering practical, high-impact digital solutions that empower our business teams.
We’re hiring a Software Engineering Specialist to join our fast-moving, agile Business Transformation group.
You will help build AI-powered products that directly influence how our business makes decisions, operates assets, and scales expertise.
As part of our Business Transformation group, you will work at the intersection of strategy, engineering, and applied AI—turning complex operational problems into production-grade digital systems used every day.
You’ll be designing and owning end-to-end agentic products that integrate enterprise data, modern infrastructure, and foundation models into real workflows.
This role is ideal for a senior engineer who wants technical depth, business proximity, and real ownership – and who enjoys seeing their work drive impactful outcomes.
What you’ll do:
Build AI-Native Products: Design and deliver full-stack, production systems where generative AI, analytics, and automation are embedded into daily business workflows.
Own End-to-End Solutions: Take ideas from problem definition through design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement.
Translate Business into Systems: Work directly with domain experts and leaders to turn operational challenges into scalable software.
Develop Agentic Systems: Combine AI agents with traditional components (APIs, pipelines, databases, AI models) to create reliable, auditable systems.
Build AI-Ready Infrastructure: Design semantic and context layers, knowledge stores, tool APIs, and data representations that make AI systems robust and trustworthy.
Deploy & Adapt Models: Integrate foundation models, optimize instructions, automate contexts, and evolve solutions as models improve.
Lead Through Practice: Mentor peers and partners, shape development standards, and raise the organization’s AI maturity through hands-on leadership.
Who you are:
You are a software specialist who combines strong technical depth with business awareness. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, shaping solutions from incomplete information, and balancing speed with reliability.
You care about building systems that last, making complex problems simpler and delivering value, not just code
You bring:
12+ years of industry experience in IT or engineering
8+ years of professional software engineering experience
A strong foundation in system design and architecture
Proven experience working with business stakeholders
Legal authorization to work in Canada
A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
This is a full-time, in-office role based in downtown Calgary.
Core Technical Capabilities:
Full-Stack Solutions Development: Shown experience building server-based web-based applications using modern frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Flask, Django, Streamlit, Dash, or Shiny, etc…
AI-Centric Application Development: Experience building production systems using modern AI frameworks (OpenAI API, Agno, LangChain/LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, CrewAI, AutoGen, Pydantic, or similar).
Software Engineering Foundations: Deep understanding of software engineering fundamental and components, including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), database design, RESTful architecture, data modeling, Object-Relational Mapping (ORM), Automated Testing, Search Indexing, Background Processing, Security/authentication/authorization, and code and data promotion best practices.
Agentic & Developer Tooling: Experience leveraging tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and VS Code Agents to accelerate development.
Information Retrieval & Search: Practical experience in building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, vector stores (e.g. Postgre pgvector, Pinecone, or similar), implementing parsing, chunking, hybrid search techniques, and developing corresponding automated tests using relevant testing frameworks.
Data & Platform Engineering: Skilled in designing and optimizing a wide range of data stores including Relational Databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle), File/Object Storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage), Caching Layers (Redis, Memcached) and cloud-based Data Platforms (Databricks, Snowflake)
AI Model Integration & Fine-Tuning: Experience deploying and using generative AI foundation models, fine-tuning models for specific domain use, and integrating them into end-to-end software solutions and workflows
We acknowledge the value of transferable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
Note: The application deadline for this position is 11:59 PM MT March 11, 2026.
