We have an exciting opportunity for positive and energetic individuals to fill Lifeguard / Instructor I positions at the outdoor Ferny Coombe Pool for the upcoming season.

In the Recreation, Culture & Projects Department, successful candidates will assist the Lifeguard / Instructor II’s to ensure a safe and fun aquatic environment. Responsibilities include :

• Performing lifeguarding duties and ensuring the safety of patrons using the aquatic facility.
• Supervising the use of swimming and related recreation areas.
• Supporting Lifeguard / Instructor II in emergency situations and performing first aid as required.
• Completing incident forms and performing maintenance tasks as directed.
• Conducting instructional and recreational aquatic programs.

We are looking for individuals who possess current National Lifeguard Service (pool option), Lifesaving Society – Swim for Life Instructor certification (previously WSI), and First Aid / CPR Level C. Additional certifications such as High Five and FOODSAFE are an asset.

With the current construction of the Lets'emot Regional Recreation & Aquatic Centre (LRRAC), this will likely be the final season for the Ferny Coombe Pool as we transition to a year-round facility.

Pay and benefits for these bargaining unit auxiliary positions are in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The 2025 post-probationary wage rate for this position is $26.32 per hour plus 14.0% in lieu of benefits.
