About the Role & Team

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and suitably qualified team player for the position of Fan Engagement Sports Trader. This role requires a highly professional, organized, and enthusiastic individual who is data-driven, is obsessed with sports and sports betting and willing to push the boundaries to continuously improve the product.

The role is for someone who lives and breathes the stories, stats and sizzle of US Sports, teams, players, coaches etc. A sports media and sports betting combination to deliver 24 / 7 topical, relevant and engaging products, knowing that the news cycle is less than 24 hrs and every day brings countless new stories, trends and dynamics to power the Sportsbook Fan Engagement Betting Experience.

Typical Workday at theScore

  • Following breaking US Sports media from ESPN and theScore to identify the key news stories fans are interested in.
  • Creating the right betting markets to match the media stories thus sharing the right US and global sports betting products to the widest possible audience.
  • Compiling odds for Odds Boosts and Special Markets that are topical and engaging.
  • Pricing & Costing of Betting Related Promotions.
  • Imagining, creating, setting up, publishing, trading, and settling specials - all with a data driven, scientifically backed discipline.
  • Monitoring market liabilities.
  • Work with analytics teams to investigate market trends to obtain insight that assists in the prediction of customer betting patterns, and improve GGR and NGR.
  • Liaising with Marketing, CRM and Our News Arm To Support markets.
  • Ensure all markets are set up with the correct market limits and correctly reviewed as seasons ebb and flow.
  • Compilation and circulation of reports to inform stakeholders of business performance and forthcoming activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in a trading environment required.
  • Good all round sports betting knowledge and a strong interest in betting and odds required.
  • Data obsessed, not just data driven.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Passionate about US Sports and encyclopedic knowledge of key players and teams to localise product offering by state and province.
  • Very strong numeracy skills are required and a detailed knowledge of betting percentages and the ability to compile a book to the correct margins.
  • Flexibility is a must as working hours will be dictated by business needs. Must be able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Able to multitask and work under pressure, with time management skills.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and make decisions quickly.
  • High attention to detail and precision in delivery.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong initiative and outstanding work ethic.
  • Office based in Toronto; must be willing to work in-office full-time.
