Bus #3 - 77 passenger bus AM & PM
Serving Henry G. Izatt, Ecole Crane and Ecole Viscount Alexander
Additional noon runs / swimming runs and other corresponding midday work will be assigned based on seniority and operational needs in accordance with the CUPE 4588 Collective Agreement.

POSITION DESCRIPTION :
BASIC FUNCTION : To ensure the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and other school related activities according to the procedures as laid down by the Province of Manitoba and the Pembina Trails School Division
WORKING RELATIONSHIP : The Bus Driver reports to the Director of Transportation. Works in cooperation with the other bus drivers and the office staff in the Transportation Department.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Current Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver’s License
- Training will be provided and paid for by the Division to obtain the School Bus Operator Certificate and the
- Class 2 Province of Manitoba Driver’s License
- Current Class 2 Province of Manitoba Driver’s License would be an asset
- Current Manitoba School Bus Driver’s License would be an asset
- An ability to understand the English language (written and spoken
- An excellent driving record as evidenced by a Manitoba Driver’s Abstract
- Will be required to pass a practical driving examination as administered by the Director of Transportation
- A minimum of one (1) year school bus driving experience an asset
- Effective communication skills
- Physical abilities as per the attached Physical Demands Analysis
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Under the direction of the Director of Transportation, provides safe and efficient transportation to students and staffCarries out duties and acts in accordance with laws, policies, procedures and regulations as laid down by :a) The Highway Traffic Actb) The Public Schools Actc) The Manitoba School Bus Driver’s Handbookd) Policies and procedures of the Pembina Trails School DivisionMaintains route and route map completely up-to-date and ensures both are in a conspicuous place in the assigned busMaintains orderly student conduct in the bus and reports misconduct to the principal or designate of the schoolCompletes a daily pre-trip inspection of any assigned bus, immediately reports any defects and completes log book entriesMaintains the interior of any assigned vehicle in a clean and sanitary condition. Maintains the exterior as clean as weather conditions permitMaintains fluid levels in any assigned vehicle and fuels buses as requiredReports all accidents (students or vehicles) at the time of the accidentConducts “Bus Evacuation” drillsCompletes required forms and reportsAttends all driver’s meetings and workshopsAssists other transportation, maintenance or caretaking, personnel as requiredNotifies the Director of Transportation immediately of charges laid against the driver under the Highway Traffic Act or the Criminal Code of CanadaNotifies the Director of Transportation immediately of any medical condition that would impair the driver’s ability to carry out the responsibilities of the positionMust learn and use the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information SystemPERFORMANCE APPRAISAL AND EVALUATION :
Performance appraisal of these position responsibilities shall be conducted by the Transportation Officer based on the approved appraisal guidelines.
