Position Summary
The Purchaser is responsible for managing material procurement, forward scheduling, and ERP-based inventory control for active and upcoming glazing construction projects. This role ensures materials are ordered accurately, delivered on time, and tracked properly within the ERP system to support project schedules, cost control, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Source, price, and procure glazing materials including aluminum extrusions, glass, hardware, gaskets, fasteners, and related components
- Issue purchase orders and manage supplier confirmations, lead times, and delivery schedules
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and volume discounts with suppliers
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and manufacturers
Forward Scheduling & Planning
Coordinate forward material planning based on project schedules, shop drawings, and production timelinesForecast material requirements for upcoming projects and phasesIdentify long-lead items and proactively mitigate supply risksCoordinate closely with Project Managers, Estimating, and Production teamsERP & Inventory Management
Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP systemMonitor stock levels, usage rates, and reorder pointsReconcile purchase orders, receipts, and invoices in the ERPGenerate inventory, purchasing, and usage reportsEnsure data accuracy across all ERP procurement modulesCross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with project teams to align procurement with installation schedulesSupport production planning with real-time material availability dataAssist accounting with PO matching and cost trackingParticipate in continuous improvement of procurement and inventory workflowsRequired Qualifications
3+ years experience in purchasing or procurement (construction or manufacturing preferred)Strong ERP system experience (construction, manufacturing, or supply-chain ERP)High level of computer proficiency (Excel, ERP systems, document management)Strong organizational and scheduling skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneouslyExcellent communication and vendor-negotiation skillsPreferred Qualifications
Experience in glazing, curtainwall, windows, or construction materialsFamiliarity with shop drawings, take-offs, and construction schedulesExperience working in a fast-paced project-based environmentCompensation
