Global Director of Finance

Job Summary :

The Global Director of Finance at plays a crucial role in leading our global financial operations, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, and building & managing financial activities / processes across all divisions. This individual will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial reporting, driving global financial strategies, and ensuring all plants comply with budget and quality controls.

Responsibilities :

Corporate Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure the robust protection of the company’s assets, focusing on both tangible and intangible assets through comprehensive security measures.
  • Enhance and uphold the internal control framework, ensuring adequacy and effectiveness to prevent fraud and ensure financial accuracy, including regular reviews and deep-dive audits of balance sheets.  This includes adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and international financial reporting standards (IFRS) as applicable.

Financial Management and Operations

  • Manage global finance functions, ensuring efficient and effective operations through the integration of financial processes and technology platforms (e.g., ERP systems, inventory management, cash cycles).
  • Oversee day-to-day global financial reporting activities, ensuring smooth operations across all financial processes (e.g. financial accounting, inventory management, cash cycle etc.)
  • Develop and maintain a cost allocation plan for all global entities, enhancing financial efficiency and transparency.
  • Strategic Leadership and Direction

  • Lead the annual business plan process in collaboration with plant controllers worldwide, setting financial goals and ensuring alignment with corporate strategies.
  • Participate actively in strategic discussions, including M&A and investment plans, providing crucial financial calculations, suggestions, and guidance.
  • Build high-performing teams, mentor staff and drive continuous improvement culture
  • Business Performance and Improvement

  • Drive performance management cycles (e.g. daily / weekly / monthly / quarterly KPIs, monthly financial reports, performance reviews by BU and department; escalated frequency of reviews for underperforming areas)
  • Engaging / challenging all plants and sites globally to ensure budget adherence and financial optimization and culture of financial accountability,
  • Build insights from data; identify and manage risk and opportunities to budget / forecast
  • Be an integral member of the financial approval committee, overseeing / questioning key investments / capital expenditures, new quotes, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and commercial issues.
  • Capital Strategy

  • Lead the company in strategic cash management, ensuring adequate funding and liquidity for all operational needs and driving increase in free cash flow
  • Reporting Structure :

  • This position reports directly to the President.
  • North American finance team members reporting directly and China finance team members reporting on a dotted-line basis (solid line to the plant) to this position
  • Competencies / Behaviors :

  • Demonstrates drive and motivation (and ability to think creatively) to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Employs a first-principles + MECE thinking approach to problem-solving, maintaining an independent viewpoint based on factual and rigorous analysis.
  • Knack for working well with a wide range of people and cultures
  • Qualifications :

  • Business Degree or equivalent, with a strong preference for a CPA or similar designation.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a significant focus on finance.
  • Proven experience in global finance controlling within a global organization.
  • Strong leadership skills with at least 5 years of people management experience.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, financial reporting, and analytic applications.
  • Fluency in Mandarin is advantageous
  • Ability to travel internationally
