Position Summary:

As the Produce Assistant Department Manager, you will support the Produce Department Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the department is well-stocked, clean, fresh, and merchandised to standards. You will also supervise and coach team members to deliver excellent customer service and uphold food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the ordering, receiving, and stocking of fresh produce.
• Ensure displays are attractive, clean, and rotated regularly to maintain freshness.
• Support inventory control by minimizing shrink and monitoring quality and expiration dates.
• Lead and motivate the produce team to meet department goals and provide top-tier customer service.
• Assist in scheduling, delegating tasks, and ensuring routines are followed.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally and promptly.
• Monitor pricing, signage, and promotional activities.
• Step in for the Produce Department Manager as needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience in retail grocery, preferably in produce or fresh departments.
• Knowledge of produce quality standards and food safety.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Positive attitude and commitment to customer service.
