Job Summary
The HR & Payroll Specialist provides both HR-specific and payroll support to the company. Reporting to the Director, Customer Success, People & Culture, the ideal candidate will be responsible in ensuring accurate and efficient processing of the biweekly payroll (for both hourly and salaried employees). In addition, the HR & Payroll Specialist will provide support in a variety of HR areas such as Recruitment, Onboarding, Benefit Administration, Health and Safety, and Training and Development.

o Managing the monthly inspection process
o Performing audits of the health and safety program
o Acting as the chair for the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC)
o Coordinating escalated and / or sensitive health and safety concerns

Requirements :
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
o Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline
o Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act in Ontario
o Understanding of provincial payroll legislation
o Understanding of US payroll legislation an asset
o CPM or PCP designation is preferred
o CHRP enrolment or designation is an asset
o Proven written and verbal communication skills
o Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information and use discretion as appropriate
o Highly developed customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively, with tact, courtesy, discretion and diplomacy with all levels of staff and the public
o Highly effective organizational skills, combined with excellent judgement and the ability to prioritize and manage a high volume daily and weekly workload to meet required deadlines
o Demonstrates sound judgment and make sound decisions considering the potential consequences or impacts of proposed actions on the organization and on staff in particular
o Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Background Experiences
o Less than 1 year of experience of full cycle payroll experience in a computerized payroll environment
o 1 year of relevant experience in an HR role
o Previous US payroll experience an asset
o Some experience with Ceridian Dayforce or other HRIS software
o Previous experience with Trinet is an asset
