The Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and modern, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. Today, this area is home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge that the Durham Region forms a part of the traditional and treaty territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the Mississauga Peoples and the treaty territory of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. It is on these ancestral and treaty lands that we teach, live and learn.

Under the Principal's guidance, the Early Childhood Educator will work with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver afull-day learning program. They will supervise and implement age-appropriate activities for students in the extended day program as needed. The Educator will collaborate in creating programs and environments that support children's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge of Ministry of Education full-day Early Learning Program.
• Childcare experience in an educational setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff, and the public.
• Understanding of and commitment to confidentiality.
• Ability to follow directions, policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Experience in planning and implementing age-appropriate programs.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong organization and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to stand / walk for extended periods and move / carry equipment for program.
• Must be able to physically assist children as required ( lifting, bending, crouching, reaching, etc.).
• Assist children in washroom routines, dressing, toileting, lunchtime activities.
