Production Supervisor

Location : Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (Hwy 401 / 403 / 410 Area)

About Nett : Nett Technologies Inc., a leading manufacturer of engine emission control systems, has an opening for a Production Supervisor / Manager. The company designs and manufactures a full range of exhaust after-treatment emission control products for OE and aftermarket diesel, LPG, gasoline and natural gas engines.

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Oversees daily activities of plant operations and production
  • Directs production staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees as well as developing personal growth opportunities
  • Assigns work to department personnel to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work orders, equipment capacity and employee capabilities
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules and resolving problems
  • Establish and control procedures to ensure production of conforming fabricated assembly components
  • Manages workflow by assigning and, if required, monitoring process operations and variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, implementing cost reductions, complying with and developing reporting procedures and systems (using 5 Whys / 5S, etc.)
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing procedures and complying with regulations
  • Provides motivation, support and guidance to all employees
  • Evaluates employee performance and accountability
  • Provides objective feedback for continued employee growth
  • Set department goals and develop outline for achievement

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, production management, mechanical engineering, or equivalent minimum five years of experience in metal fabrication / manufacturing process environment
  • Five years supervisory experience in a metal fabrication / manufacturing process environment
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Hands-on experience and solid knowledge of sheet metal fabrication tools, machinery, processes and equipment (e.g. laser cutting, roll forming, bending, welding, etc.)
  • Experience in welding techniques and quality / appearance standards
  • Good project management skills and excellent communication skills
  • Effective ability to quickly analyze manufacturing procedures, functions and problems to develop and recommend creative, practical solutions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, ERP systems and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Assertive personality with strong self-discipline and sense of urgency
