Our client, a highly respected manufacturer of high-precision parts and components based in Oakville, is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance & Engineering Manager to lead their Maintenance and Engineering teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for a well-rounded Maintenance & Engineering professional (P.Eng) to support production, drive efficiency, and foster a strong team culture within a dynamic work environment.
This role has direct responsibility for engineering, product design, warranty, process design, and new product development for the entire operation. With other departments, the Maintenance & Engineering manager will find ways to ensure successful product development and production, and allocate maintenance resources to ensure compliance with the production schedules. Maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions including competition and industry trends in manufacturing process improvement, as well as process automation are key to the success of this role.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead, coach and develop a team of engineers and maintenance technicians while ensuring compliance with HSE, housekeeping and quality.
- Allocate maintenance resources to ensure compliance with the production schedule.
- Provide value added feedback through the Senior Leadership Team.
- Uses a proactive approach to reducing the impact and frequency of faults on process machinery.
- Liaises with manufacturing colleagues to identify opportunities in project and engineering work.
- Ensures proper equipment maintenance practices are scheduled and adhered to while utilizing the appropriate resources.
- In conjunction with engineering and other departments, identifies and generates justification for capital expenditure projects and value added improvement initiatives.
- Plan shutdowns in conjunction with facility personnel to ensure that they are as effective as possible and that quality, availability and HSE targets are met.
- Identify areas of improvement within the department.
- Attend meetings on behalf of the engineering team while taking a proactive role with the meetings.
- Generate meaningful KPI’s that demonstrate the improvements realized in own area of responsibility
- Proactively manage budgets.
Requirements :
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designationProven experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong background in maintenance and engineeringExpertise in preventative and planned maintenance practices, with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical issuesExperience in manufacturing environments is highly desirableStrong leadership skills, with a track record of fostering a cohesive and high-performing team cultureThis is a rewarding opportunity to join a stable, yet fast-growing business known for its commitment to quality and excellence.
