The Opportunity:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a Power Systems Electrician to fill a permanent full-time position. This is skilled work at the journeyperson level in the installation, maintenance and repair of power systems equipment.
As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- Completion of Grade 12 and a valid Journeyperson's Power Systems Electricians Trade Certificate.
*An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered. - Valid Class 3 License with Q endorsement.
- Thorough knowledge of transformer protection, protective devices, and test equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, tools, materials and equipment of the electrical trade.
- Thorough knowledge of power Interrupter and reclosure protection and controls. Ability to use a personal computer.
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Ability to locate and correct defects in electrical power lines and equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders, work from aerial bucket trucks, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret electrical diagrams.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing with fellow employees, consumers and members of the general public.
- Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment of the electrical trade.

Remuneration:
$64.38 per hour to start, and $67.01 after 12-months.
Hours of Work:
80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday as scheduled - occasional overtime with some evening and weekend work when needed.
