Position Summary
Our commitment to superior advice and service to our clients and the continued expansion of our investment products has created an exciting opportunity within Nicola Wealth.
Reporting to our CFO and Head of Private Capital, the Director, Fund Administration and Operations will lead the Fund Accounting and Operations function as we continue to grow at scale.
In addition, the successful candidate will play an instrumental role working on fund launches and initiatives through research and coordination across all areas of Asset Management.
The location will be a hybrid of work from home and an in-office environment.
As a Director, Fund Administration and Operations, your main responsibilities will include :
- Oversee and continue to grow and develop the Fund Accounting and Operations team responsible for a portfolio of mutual funds and limited partnerships including oversight of : NAV and distribution calculationsInvestor trade settlementCompletion of underlying investment documentation, including tax / legal reviewsTax slip preparation and deliveryCalculation of the funds’ MERs
- Own the development of fund reports, performance measurement and marketing collateral
- Work closely with the Asset Management team, Marketing and Advisory Services teams to deliver high-quality fund reporting for a variety of audiences : retail and institutional clients, real estate brokers, market participants and internal Advisors / Stakeholders
- Build strong, positive relationships across the company including our Advisory team, Marketing, and with the broader Finance and Asset Management teams
- Build deep knowledge of all investment products
- Lead and build out the capability of the Fund team to launch new funds, close funds and merge funds

As a Director, Fund Administration and Operations, your skills and qualifications will include :
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant Asset Management and Fund Administration experience within equity, infrastructure, or private markets
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience and leadership of this function in a similar working environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, other relevant financial field, or an acceptable combination of education and progressive work experience
- Experience with one or more of the industries Accounting (ABOR / IBOR) and Portfolio Management Systems
- CA or CPA designation preferred
- CFA or CIM registration preferred
- A solid understanding of Canadian and U.S. tax compliance
- Experience and comfortable working closely with Senior and Executive Management
- Exposure to various asset classes (including private equity and real estate) and fund structures (specifically Mutual Fund Trusts and LPs)
- Demonstrated experience creating awareness and building knowledge of investment products and services
- Confident handling and overseeing multiple cross-functional projects concurrently and managing conflicting priorities and demands
- Strong content writing and presentation skills
- Experience working in a high performing client service-oriented capacity.
- Advanced knowledge of Office 365 including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint required.
