Location : Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

Union : BCGEU collective agreement

Status : Temporary, Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

End Date : 1 year upon the start date

Days of work : 6‑week rotation. Weeks 1, 3 & 5 – all Sundays (variable Monday to Friday). Weeks 2, 4 & 6 – all Saturdays (variable Monday to Friday)

Hours : Variable shifts between 6 am and midnight

Discipline : Microbiology (cross‑training in Urinalysis and / or Molecular departments as needed)

Start Date : ASAP

LifeLabs provides 24‑hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical Library, and offers teaching opportunities for college and university students.

Your Responsibilities

• Conduct a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
• Prepare and process samples, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
• Perform, interpret and release results while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Identify incidents and non‑conformities, develop corrective action plans, and drive continuous improvement.
• Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
• Participate in problem‑solving to improve work organization and workflow.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards.
