Location : Vancouver, BCDuration : 12+ month Reporting to the Server Team Lead, the Infrastructure Specialist operates, maintains, and supports Windows and Linux servers within a Microsoft Active Directory enterprise environment. The role focuses on ensuring a secure, reliable, and highly available infrastructure to support business requirements while collaborating with other operational teams. Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Server Administration : Administer and support virtualization platforms, storage solutions, server hardware, and software configurations required to sustain enterprise operations.
- Active Directory Management : Manage DNS, DHCP, domain controllers, and GPOs in multi-domain and multi-forest environments.
- Cloud Integration : Provide basic Azure administration and collaborate on operations for other cloud platforms, such as GCP and AWS.
- Automation and Efficiency : Scripting technologies (e.g., PowerShell, Terraform, Bash) to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Automation Platforms : Leverage automation platforms such as Terraform Enterprise, Azure Automation, and Ansible Tower (AWX) to streamline infrastructure deployment and management.
- Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis : Use diagnostic tools (e.g., DCDiag, Perfmon, Wireshark) to resolve issues and perform root cause analysis in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
- Service Management : Manage SLAs and incidents through ITSM platforms like ServiceNow.
- Documentation : Develop and maintain technical and user documentation for server operations and configurations.
- Security and Compliance : Perform vulnerability scanning and remediation using tools like Tenable, ensuring compliance with applicable data privacy laws and organizational standards.
- Monitoring and Reporting : Leverage tools like Splunk to monitor system performance and generate actionable insights.
- System Updates : Administer Windows Updates using WSUS or SCCM. Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years managing enterprise-level Microsoft Windows Server environments
- Key certifications : VMware (VCP), Microsoft (MSCA, MCSE), RedHat (RHCSA, RHCE)
- Cloud certifications in Azure, GCP or AWS are considered an asset
- CCNA or CCNP are considered an asset
- Expertise in VMware ESXi, vCenter, UCS, VSAN, SAN, and NAS
- Proficiency in RedHat administration, including RedHat Satellite and Ansible administration via AWX, is key
- Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP / IP and VLANs
- Familiarity with tools and technologies such as :
- o Diagnostic tools : DCDiag, Netdiag, Perfmon, Wireshark
- o Command line tools : dsquery / mod / add / rm, net, netdom, nltest
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS
- Hands-on experience with CyberArk and other enterprise secret management systems
- Experience managing security configurations, including firewalls and domain controller hardening
- Working knowledge of monitoring and analytics platforms, such as Splunk
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage technical priorities effectively
- Team-oriented with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of large geographically distributed virtual environments is preferred
- Experience with modern automation frameworks and DevOps principles is valuable
- Familiarity with modern container platforms and orchestration tools is preferred
