Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all reporting functions. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting and finance, with hands-on expertise in payroll, budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, and financial analysis. This role will be integral to strategic planning and decision-making, supporting the long-term financial health and operational effectiveness of the organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare monthly financial statements and KPI reports.
Prepare monthly cash flow documents, including R&Ds, bank deposits, and historical volume reports.
Review quarterly portfolio analysis and employee utilization.
Prepare year-end documentation for external accountants.
Maintain up-to-date documents, schedules, and financial processes.
Payroll, Billing & Reconciliation
Review semi-monthly payroll submissions and address complex payroll inquiries from staff.
Review monthly billing, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Review deposits, prepaid amortization, and PPE amortization.
Match bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Manage weekly estate account cheque issuance.
Accounts Management & Compliance
Oversee accounts payable, receivables, and contractor timesheet reviews/submissions.
Manage third-party reports and payments, including ABR, CDIC, Employer Health Tax, WCB, and GST.
Oversee insurance portfolios (Crime, Commercial, Professional, Cyber).
Support lease administration, including schedule maintenance and coordination of renewals or relocations as needed.
Provide required information to associates on a monthly/quarterly basis.
Operational Support & Team Leadership
Approve vacation requests for various departments (accounting, tax, TEMs, department heads).
Review remote calendars to optimize team resources based on client demand.
Ensure workflow continuity by taking on administrative duties during employee absences.
Reassign or redistribute work for employees who are sick or away to maintain coverage.
Provide oversight across multiple departments as required.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior accounting/finance role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online experience an asset).
Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial analysis, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
