Position Summary :
The Director of Finance will be a key partner of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing financial operations, driving strategic decision-making and ensuring fiscal health. You will report into the CFO and partner closely with the executive team to provide strategic financial guidance and support, collaborate across departments, and ensure alignment with our business goals. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a startup mindset and the ability to scale financial operations as we grow.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Financial Leadership :
- Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with long-term business goals.
- Partner with the CFO and executive team to drive business decisions.
- Monitor KPIs company wide, including order / unit economics and financial performance, ensuring targets are met.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting :
Build and manage the company’s financial forecasting models.Prepare and manage annual budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources.Present financial reports, forecasts, and operational results to the executive team. Prepare documentation for Board Meetings.Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP or IFRS.Financial Analysis and Reporting :
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.Analyze financial performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and trends.Provide insights and recommendations to drive profitability and efficiency.Operational Excellence :
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable / receivable, and tax compliance.Oversee audits and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.Leadership and Development :
Create a culture of financial discipline and operational excellence within the organization.Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, product, and operations to ensure cross-functional alignment.E-Commerce and Industry Expertise :
Leverage knowledge of e-commerce financial metrics, including CAC, LTV, and ROI, to guide decisions.Collaborate with operations, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure financial alignment.Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes impacting e-commerce.Qualifications :
8-10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3-5 years in a role in a high-growth startup, ideally in eCommerce.Strong knowledge of financial modeling, unit economics, and eCommerce business metrics (e.g., LTV, CAC, gross margin).In-depth understanding of GAAP or IFRS accounting principles and regulatory requirements.Demonstrated ability to lead financial strategy in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.Hands-on experience in managing financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.Advanced proficiency in financial tools and software, such as Excel, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar.Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA preferred.
