To proactively address future challenges and best meet the changing needs of Durham Region, DRPS has embarked on an exciting period of growth as it looks to revitalize and expands its physical infrastructure. It is within this context that DRPS is seeking its first Director, Facilities Management & Capital Projects.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the planning, construction and maintenance of the facilities for Durham Regional Police. As DRPS looks to effectively double its physical footprint over the next decade, the Director will collaborate with the Chief of Police and DRPS leadership to align infrastructure projects with organizational goals and community need. This includes providing strategic leadership in all stages of facility and project management from initial assessment to planning, approvals, stakeholder engagement, vendor selection, and the planning and ongoing management of maintenance, safety compliance, and facility security.
As an ideal candidate, you bring a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field as well as Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation. A combination of relevant education and practical experience may also be acceptable. Your demonstrated experience in facilities management and capital construction is underpinned by comprehensive knowledge of building systems, outstanding project management skill, and a strong business and financial acumen. DRPS will benefit from your critical thinking skill, expertise in assessing and aligning operational demands and organizational need, and your ability to identify opportunities for optimization and positive change. An excellent communicator and relationship builder, you are highly respected for your authenticity, transparency, and collaborative approach as well as your proven expertise in managing large-scale budgets, complex vendor negotiations and ability to bring projects to fruition on time and on budget. You are passionate about, and enjoy building and leading highly professional, effective teams untied in a culture of client service and project delivery excellence.
