System Administrator – Job Description
SGGG Fund Services Inc. (SGGG-FSI) is currently seeking to fill a full-time permanent position for the role of System Administrator. The successful candidate joining our technology team will be energetic, enthusiastic and reliable, and will have the opportunity to participate in the delivery of financial services industry leading software.
Under the direction of the Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations, the System Administrator position is responsible to develop and maintain Microsoft Windows Server and SQL database environment, and manage the network infrastructure across two data centers. The role will have responsibility to aid software developers in the delivery of applications which meet the needs of users, in a timely and effective manner. You will also work with the Sr. System Administrator in implementing a network infrastructure road-map to maximize the organization’s investments in hardware and software technologies.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain server, database and network infrastructure solutions
- Monitor and tune corporate database and infrastructure environments for optimum performance
- Research, evaluate and make recommendations on software products and tools related to database and infrastructure management
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation diagrams of network infrastructure
- Work with project teams in the design, development, and review of technology solutions
- Manage infrastructure related projects according to budgets and schedules
- Perform backup duties on Microsoft SQL and Windows servers
Operational Requirements & Activities
Able to lift, move, and deploy (mount to racks) IT equipment that may weigh 40 lbs or more (e.g., server, PC, router, switch, etc.)Work in a high voltage and noisy environment of server rooms and data centers. Deploy PCs and network equipment on the floor where crawling under desks may be necessary to connect equipment together or to the electrical outletsWork independently during early morning and late evening hours on weekdays and weekends with minimal or no supervisionRequires sitting or standing while using computer screens for long periods during regular businessMonitor servers and network equipment beyond regular business hours with automated alerting mechanisms, and respond to alerts by providing support for critical IT infrastructure to ensure that it is operationalQualifications
Work Experience
2 – 3 years of Windows server and Azure administration experience1 – 2 years of network infrastructure administration experienceKnowledge of the investment fund industry systems, operations, technical and business processes (an asset, but not required)Education
University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science (or equivalent experience in the field).Preference will be given to applicants with relevant certificates and training in InformationTechnology
