Responsibilities
- Completion of T1 tax returns for insolvency clients
- Understanding basic bookkeeping and tax engagements
- Manage multiple files simultaneously
- Summarize clients’ current financial status by collecting information
- Review, investigate and correct discrepancies in tax returns and financial information
- Ability to communicate and deal with CRA and regulatory bodies as needed
- Prepare correspondence and reports to management
- Assist with administering formal insolvency appointments including bankruptcies and proposals
- Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members
- Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Skills and Experience
Ability to work under tight deadlines2 to 4 years of relevant bookkeeping and accounting experienceBachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field is considered an assetGeneral knowledge of relevant income and excise tax actsExperience working with accounting and tax softwareUnderstanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principlesExperience with bankruptcy and insolvency an asset
