Reporting to the Lead Transformation Officer, the Business Systems Specialist supports Laurentian University’s Transformation Program through the implementation of a new Student Relationship Management (SRM) system. The role improves the student experience from admissions through alumni engagement by aligning institutional needs with system capabilities and supporting effective adoption across all student-facing units.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and documentation of business processes for the Fusion SRM system, ensuring alignment across recruitment, registration, advising, and student success.
- Gather, analyze, and translate business needs into functional requirements and future-state workflows.
- Identify process improvement and automation opportunities that enhance service delivery.
- Collaborate with IT to guide SRM/CRM and SIS integration requirements and support configuration reviews.
- Lead testing activities, including functional testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Oversee data migration planning, validation, and readiness between legacy and new systems.
- Develop and deliver change management, communication, and training materials to support system adoption.
- Track project progress, risks, and milestones in collaboration with program leadership.
- Act as the primary liaison between business units and IT, ensuring issues are prioritized and resolved.
- Support post-implementation stabilization and continuous system optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Education Administration, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience, ideally within higher education and student services operations.
- Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) and/or SRM/CRM platforms such as Salesforce, SugarCRM, or Ellucian.
- Strong skills in business process mapping, requirements documentation, and system implementation.
- Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work fluently in both French and English is required.
