Job description

Continuous Improvement Engineer

Position Summary :

As an Industrial Engineer / Process Improvement professional at Steelcon, you will play a crucial role in enhancing both shop and field operations. You will analyze, design, and implement systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity. Emphasis will be on process enhancements, waste reduction and operational efficiency using Lean Six Sigma and other CI tools.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Process Analysis & Optimization : Evaluate current workflows, material handling, and labor utilization to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements that reduce waste and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Lean Manufacturing Implementation : Apply Lean principles like 5S, Kaizen, and Just-In-Time inventory to minimize waste in time, materials, and resources.
  • Layout and Flow Optimization : Design optimal layouts and improve material flow to streamline fabrication processes, reduce travel time, and enhance field readiness.
  • Data Collection and Analysis : Collect and analyze production, quality, and logistics data to identify performance trends and determine areas for adjustment.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination : Standardize communication protocols between shop and field teams, and implement systems to track and report fabrication progress, shipment status, and delivery schedules.
  • Delivery Optimization : Implement Just-In-Time delivery scheduling, establish standards, and enhance tracking to reduce errors, deficiencies, and missing pieces in the field.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) : Work closely with the Quality Management team to develop and refine SOPs to ensure consistent quality and productivity across shop and field operations.
  • Training and Development : Provide training to employees on Lean methodologies, new technologies, and updated SOPs to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role, preferably within the steel fabrication or construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Lean manufacturing techniques and experience in process optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Experience with project management and familiarity field operations on a construction site is a plus.
