About the role
About the role :
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer (Oracle SQL) to join our Reinsurance IT team. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner with industry knowledge and a minimum of 10 years of experience with Oracle SQL language, using Toad for Oracle and / or PL / SQL. The Senior Developer will be responsible for assisting with production support issues, month-end processes, and error handling procedures.
What you'll do here :
Perform analyses of system and coding needs to identify the problems encountered and propose solutions including program specifications.
Translate requirements into technical specifications / software components.
Develop and maintain Oracle SQL queries and scripts for data analysis and reporting.
Support and guide the project team in development activities to ensure the quality of the code delivered while meeting project deadlines.
Write unit and integration tests for each function in which development is required.
Participate in the implementation of regression testing strategies to improve the stability of the application components.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production support issues related to reinsurance processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth month-end processes.
Implement error handling mechanisms to improve system reliability and performance.
Provide support and maintenance (level 1) for the application and resolve complex anomalies.
Must be open to perform user acceptance testing tasks.
What you bring to the table :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience working with Oracle SQL language, using Toad for Oracle and / or PL / SQL.
Strong understanding of reinsurance processes and industry standards.
Insurance background (a must).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
P&C insurance knowledge required.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
Can work in a team.
Bilingualism is considered an asset (French and English) -
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
