Do you have a passion for working with our seniors in providing multi-faith Spiritual Care?
We are looking for an independent contractor position as a Spiritual Care Provider at Afton Park Place Nursing Home.
- approximately 14hrs / week (Monday + another day of successful applicant’s choice)
- preferred shift would be from 9 : 00am – 4 : 00pm
- computer literacy is required
- providing one on one Spiritual Care for all denomination and faiths of residents, including those who are palliating
- Designing and leading Memorial Services, Bible Studies, Holiday Services (Remembrance Day, Christmas, Easter, etc), Hymn Sings, and other group care as directed.
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check and tuberculosis check required
- Musical knowledge (piano or guitar) a benefit
- This is an independent contractor position
Qualifications
Training and / or experience in gerontology and a genuine interest in working with residents of the Long-Term Care CommunityTraining and / or experience in multi-faith programmingSufficient knowledge and experience to co-ordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith settingMinimum 2 years’ experience in Long Term Care settingExcellent interpersonal and communication skills requiredMotivation and ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary teamKnowledge of community resources and program developmentMembership in the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care or equivalent is an assetAdditional Information
ACCOUNTABILITIES :

Follow up on all referralsAttends multidisciplinary team conferences as requested and provides input prior to conferenceAssists the Manager, Life Enrichment to contact resident’s former church when requested by the residentProvides ongoing visitation and support to the residentsProvides support for Palliative Care residents and familiesProvides grief and bereavement support to families and residentsOrganizes and implements in-service on related topics as requestedConducts or supports multi-faith religious services in recognition of denomination specific holidaysMaintains confidentiality of resident informationProvides input for dealing with ethical issues for the residents, staff and families as requiredParticipates in the Ethics CommitteeAssists with planning Memorial ServicesHEALTH AND SAFETY
