Your Opportunity
You will work on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer / Designer. The Electrical Engineer - EIT should be able to evaluate, select specify, and engineer certain electrical power and lighting systems or products for a project. An Engineer in Training will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, and field work. The smaller projects that an Electrical Engineer- EIT may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features.
Your Key Responsibilities
Performs design / drafting following industry codes and client standards for the substation protection and control or Telecom systems
Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.
Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
Perform site visit before performing detail design.
Communicate with stakeholder and coordinate with client for the outcome of site visit.
Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and / or external consultants.
Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
Implements sustainable design principles.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Basic knowledge of electrical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
Basic knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code, energy codes, and other pertinent codes.
Working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Being detail focused and patient
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Power Engineering
Co-ops experience at power consulting firms will be an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather
