Summary

Reporting to the NA FSQS Vendor and Conman Manager, the FSQS Supplier Specialist will make a positive contribution, enabling Griffith Foods North America to continue to grow and operate in an effective, efficient and profitable manner. This role is responsible for the maintenance of raw materials quality program and for conducting detailed Material Risk Assessment to ensure hazards are identified and mitigated.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary group to execute Raw Material Approval Process within required time frame.
  • Develops expertise in raw material categories for effective review of raw material documentation for food safety risk and adherence to quality and approved supplier program.
  • Conduct and maintain detailed material risk assessment (MRA) based on established criteria for each ingredient including packaging item to identify and mitigate hazard to Griffith and customer.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to establish meaningful raw material specifications to address MRA and compliant with Griffith Foods requirements, industry standard, and government regulations.
  • Supports plant to ensure food safety and quality related concerns with supplier and raw material documentation are handled immediately to minimize impact on plant.
  • Assist in preparation prior and / or during customer, 3rd party and regulatory audits with raw material and supplier documentation.
  • Supports Audit suppliers based on risk assessment on a frequency basis to ensure compliance to Griffith Foods standards.
  • Leads special Food Safety Quality Improvement projects as identified through industry changes, regulatory changes, and / or specific customer requirements.
  • Work closely with regulatory department to ensure that the incoming raw material meets all required regulations (Canadian, EU or USDA) as required.
  • Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.
  • Ensures compliance with all product safety, legality and quality requirements.
  • Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, preferably in Food Science.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years Food Safety / Quality Systems or Food Product Development or Food Regulatory experience in a food environment.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to create reports from diverse databases.
  • Ability to identify / audit accuracy of data.
  • Completing multiple priorities (internal and external).
  • Strong technical knowledge of raw material properties, test methodologies, CODEX, ASTA and ADOGA requirements.
