Job description

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) is the province's medical regulator. We have a mission to serve in the public interest in Ontario's health system, ensuring patients receive quality care from fully trained, highly competent, deeply compassionate and ethically guided doctors.

Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the Senior Digital Media Developer is a dynamic, self-starter who will play a key role in developing and curating content and online engagement across the College's digital communication channels (i.e., website, intranet, social media and email). This role requires extensive experience with content management systems and digital media platforms, updating websites and intranets, accessibility best practices and remediation, and effective web and graphic design techniques.

Responsibilities :

Website and Intranet Content

  • Maintain the College website content management systems (Kentico 13 and Agility).
  • Maintain content on the College intranet (SharePoint).
  • Ensure content (HTML, PDFs, video, etc.) complies with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements and brand identity guidelines.
  • Analyze web traffic for CPSO platforms.
  • Understanding of web security.
  • Understanding of web development frameworks.
  • Understanding of Web styling frameworks.
  • Understanding of Web APIs.
  • Understanding web traffic and analytics.

Media and Social Media

  • Maintain the College publishing calendar.
  • Coordinate social media posting and listening.
  • Coordinate media listening.
  • Monitor social media traffic and respond when appropriate, in consultation with Communications colleagues.
  • Email Communications

  • Create newsletters and emails based on existing templates using the College software (ClickDimensions), with content supplied by internal stakeholders.
  • Test, troubleshoot and report delivery and clickthrough data and analytics.
  • Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Test and perform QA on all work to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Adhere to established processes for securing internal stakeholder approval(s) prior to publishing content.
  • Data and Analytics

  • Measure the effectiveness and impact of digital communication initiatives, using data and analytics to evaluate and enhance performance and outcomes.
  • General communications support

  • Research, write and edit copy in plain language for various digital and traditional channels, including website and intranet, digital publications, social media, registrant mailings, promotional materials, scripts, etc.
  • Support communications requirements for College leadership.
  • Maintain an awareness of new developments and trends in digital communications.
  • Act as backup for Communications team colleagues, as required.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Qualifications :

    Education and Experience :

  • Successful completion of a university degree or college diploma in digital communications, web design or a related field.Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience in planning, developing and implementing various aspects of digital communications.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in development using client and server-side frameworks.
  • Skills and Competencies :

  • Team Player : A positive and service-oriented "can do" attitude, able to collaborate effectively within a dynamic team and cross-functionally. Flexibility to support other communications functions, as needed.
  • Technical Skills : Strong understanding of HTML and CSS, along with experience in Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance requirements and using enterprise content management systems - Kentico 13 and Agility would be an asset.
  • Written and Verbal Communication : Excellent communication skills to craft clear, concise and engaging content in plain language for diverse audiences.
  • Change Management and Continuous Improvement : Familiarity with change management processes and expertise in digital communications.
  • Time Management : Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure and handle confidential matters tactfully.
  • Organizational Skills : Detail-oriented and adaptable, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Microsoft 365 Proficiency : Advanced skills in Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
