Compensation
A competitive compensation package is on offer, inclusive of a $75,000 to $85,000* base salary.

Position Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Customs Compliance Consultant to support their growing brokerage and trade compliance division. The successful candidate will manage and advise on import/export regulations on behalf of clients covering HS classification, customs valuation, PGA/OGD requirements, FTA qualification and analysis, audits, and refund programs. This role also involves supporting the operations team, providing regulatory guidance, and identifying opportunities to enhance client value through consulting services.
- Provide customs and regulatory guidance to internal teams and external clients.
- Assign proper HS tariff classifications, including end-use provisions under Chapter 99 of the Customs Tariff.
- Support operational teams with PGA and OGD-related inquiries.
- Assist clients through CBSA verifications, compliance audits, and post-audit requirements.
- Identify tax recovery and cost-saving opportunities (duties, GST, drawbacks, excise, etc.).
- Conduct mock compliance audits to identify risks and enhance client compliance readiness.
- Manage and maintain clients’ commodity and classification databases.
- Review and validate Free Trade Agreement (FTA) certificates and qualify goods accordingly.
- Advise clients on customs topics such as valuation, origin, marking, temporary imports, and SIMA.
- Prepare and submit refund, remission, and drawback claims where applicable.
- Deliver internal or external training sessions and webinars on customs compliance topics.
- Collaborate with the compliance team to identify potential consulting and revenue opportunities.
- Support ongoing process improvement initiatives within the compliance division.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in customs compliance, consulting, or brokerage operations.
Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of CBSA and OGD regulations, valuation, FTA qualification, and temporary import rules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data analysis, pivot tables).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Self-motivated and proactive with a collaborative mindset.
Education
- Post-secondary education in International Trade, Customs, or a related field (preferred).
- Customs Certified Specialist (CCS) designation required.
- Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designation considered an asset.
- Professional customs license or equivalent accreditation is an advantage.
