The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, Community Corrections, North Region, is seeking a motivated, confident, and client-service oriented individual to fill a Program Specialist position in Prince Albert.
As a Program Specialist, in addition to regular Probation Officer / Community Youth Worker duties, you will provide group programming with a primary focus on violence, but could include gender-specific programming. As part of Community Corrections, job duties may include both Youth and / or Adult clients. As part of the Risk-Need-Responsivity model, you will conduct validated generalized and specialized assessments that are evidence-based, prepare court reports, develop and implement offender relapse prevention plans. Your outstanding interpersonal skills will help you respond effectively with victims of criminal offences, collaborate with community agencies, victim resources, police and other government personnel to provide an integrated approach to offender management and supervision in the community.Candidates are asked to fully describe in their resume / covering letter how they have obtained the knowledge and abilities identified above.To qualify, you will possess a degree from an accredited university or college; or a minimum two-year degree, with a focus on the principles of behavioural change and other assessment skills, this would include Correctional Studies, Justice Studies, Community and Justice Services, Social Work or Mental Health; or meet the grandfathering provisions in accordance with Community Corrections qualifications. As a field employee, you may be required to work non-traditional hours to provide client service in the office and in community settings (i.e. court, home visits). A valid driver’s license is required for the position.
