Job description

The High Prairie School Divisionis inviting applicants for : Computer TechnicianJob PurposeThe Computer Technician is committed to serving the needs of students and staff of the High Prairie School Division (HPSD). The Computer Technician reports to the Manager of Information Technology and provides hardware and software maintenance, training, consultation, and recommendations about technology solutions. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure maximum access to technology resources for HPSD end users.The Computer Technician will have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. The Computer Technician will have to do some lifting of computer equipment, supplies and materials from time to time.Duties and ResponsibilitiesIncluding, but not limited to : Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network operating systems. Liaise with School Administrators and Technician Contacts regarding current and future tech support needs. Provide detailed logs of tech support incidents in HPSD ticketing system, including description, work undertaken, and resolution. All tech work is to be logged daily.Ensure a monthly quota of processed tickets averaging 5.5 support hours per day is maintained.Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software, and resources.Provide staff user training and support.Monitor and maintain divisional technology to ensure maximum availability.Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources.Creation of staff and student user accounts. Connect and set up hardware. Load all required software.Monitor security of all technologyInput and maintain IP addresses.Advise staff of security breach and / or change in password or security status.Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate.Ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal.Research current and potential technology resources and services.Attend Professional Development activities.Continuing to improve expertise and job-related skills; andOther assignments and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Technology.Required Traits & AttitudesA positive attitude toward job, staff, and students.Maintains confidentiality.Reports to work as scheduled. Conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner.Has ability to work independently; organize, and use time effectively. Works with frequent interruptions and adapts to changing circumstances.Shows initiative but is also willing to take / follow direction.Works within the procedures and systems of the Division.Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.Dresses appropriately for a school setting; andWorks cooperatively with others.QualificationsCompletion of a computer technician program or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related technical field.
